A recent trip to Paradise, Texas led me to a place where a secluded IT Certified Project Management boot camp-style training class separated the experienced from the inexperienced. The Project Management Leadership Group (PMLG) has developed a boot camp style-training environment suitable for entry level PMs. I had the opportunity to attend this six-day class, while partaking in the camaraderie, so I decided I should share my experiences.

 

Here’s a brief review of the course--based on my experience--should you decide to invest some resources in the IT CPM Boot Camp.

 

What is IT CPM Boot Camp?

First and foremost, as if you couldn’t guess it for yourself, IT CPM is short for the Information Technology Certified Project Management Certification. This designation is bestowed upon anyone, and I do mean anyone, who wishes to enter the realm of managing projects in the IT field.

 

Of course, the designation doesn’t come with simply taking notes. One must pass “the test” on the last day of class. The prelude to the test is five days of intense work. The day you arrive, typically on a Sunday, you can expect to get right to work, beginning with an introduction to the course and the trainers.
