It is no secret that there really is no shortage of project managers out in the marketplace, so you can replace your project manager if you need to, right? While true, this statement is, in fact, also overly simplistic. Here is your wake up call, folks. Other companies are out there. They are looking for top project managers to help them either regain their leadership or become a leader. What are you going to do to stop them from taking your people? Well, the rubber has met the road and you better wake up before all you smell are the fumes of that resignation letter laying on your desk, fresh off your very own office printer. It is a new day, and managers who fight for their project managers win. Everybody else can just get in line for their Monster.com ad and hope for the best.

 

Every good manager and CIO knows that project managers not only lead projects, but they lead teams as well. The successful ones, like those in your company, always have their ears to the ground. They keep their eyes open and their ears perked, listening for trouble or other rumblings from not only their own team, but upper management as well. Ask yourself what message have you sent to them? Remember too that these are the same people who are privy to most of the closed door meetings. They already know all the dirt, realize what to expect in coming days and, even though they knew it wouldn't…
