Sure, traveling for a living sounds glamorous, especially if you are single and particularly if you are right out of college. However late nights up in your hotel room staring at your laptop after a dinner schmoozing with the client (work in itself), followed by yet another 14-hour day tomorrow makes the difference between fantasy and reality sharp in contrast. How do you take control of that type of schedule? How do you manage your work effectively, and what are some of the common pitfalls? Let’s review some of the answers to those very questions.

The Basics of Working from the Client Site
Yes, you are working on a project. No, you are not going to be located in the Caymans, but rather sunny Kalamazoo, Michigan. Where? Exactly. Yes, you are learning a lot and "making an impact,”, but no, there is no five-star restaurant within 50 miles for wining and dining your client, so there goes the "great meals" perk. All dressed up with your gold card and nowhere to go! Reality stinks!

So now that we have determined that life is no better than it would be if you worked in your home town (perhaps worse), you are back to the basics. One of which is realizing that just because you are at a client site does not mean that you’re off the hook with the home office.
