Project management is a critical factor supporting the growth of civilization today and throughout history. The ability to organize teams of people to get work done is a hallmark of project management, as well as a requirement of civilized people everywhere. Modern life depends on the ability to apply technological solutions to the problems posed by the way we live. While this has been true for thousands of years, the need--as well as the opportunity--to apply technology is greater now than it has ever been. For this reason, project management is more important today than ever before.

So what does project management have to do with current events? As it turns out, plenty. You'll see what we mean as we bring you the "Project Manager's Perspective" on what's in the news every week. The focus of the weekly news will be to report news developments where the use of project management is having a major impact. This includes the following kinds of projects and programs:
