A design firm improves financial management by using Terminal Server software to link offices.
Crafton, Tull & Associates improved the efficiency and accuracy of its financial operations by linking four of its offices via a wide-area network (WAN) and having them use a project management and financial accounting program that runs under Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. Previously, each branch office faxed or mailed documents such as time sheets, invoices, and checks to the home office where the information was entered into the computer. This approach introduced errors and prevented checks from being deposited quickly because they had to travel to the home office so the receipt could be recorded. By linking offices electronically and having all employees use the same project management and financial accounting program, information such as time sheets, invoices, and receipts is entered only once, eliminating the task of data entry and making information more accurate and up-to-date. Branch offices now deposit their own checks into local banks after entering the receipts themselves.Crafton, Tull & Associates (CTA) provides services for architecture, engineering and surveying projects.
