Unless we have project managers who can convince those "in the trenches" that there is no punishment for being creative, there will not be innovation.

["Expect the Unexpected," The Kickoff, July/August] offers terrific insight. Unless we have project managers who can convince those "in the trenches" that there is no punishment for being creative, there will not be innovation. Where are those project managers who align the incentives so that everyone can be successful? Yes, let's make it attractive for project managers to focus on the customer's expectations, to constantly remind the team of the vision, and to make sure that everyone returns home to their family uninjured every day.
