You know how important it is to have the right people in the critical spots in your project--people with expertise who you can trust to get the job done. Unfortunately, there is simply too huge a mob of candidates just waiting for you to open the door with your job posting key. You have to spend some time to identify the best-fit specialists.

 

Your first task will be to forego some other tasks on your busy schedule. Then insert these new assignments.

 

Prepare your sales presentation in advance

While you are on the prowl for critical resources for your project, be prepared. Be able to summarize the positive nature of the project and the benefits to potential candidates. You don't want to appear to be thinking hard about either of these points.

 

Put together a two-minute "elevator speech" just like a marketer. Practice it.

 

Use professional organizations

There are many specialists who do not consider themselves to be actively in a job search, but who will listen to details of your project and become interested. Why would they be listening to the details of your project? Because you met them at an association meeting attended by people who thrive in projects like yours! And you observed that they had the experience and attributes you are seeking. Those who are not interested will likely know someone who is.
