Organizations that buy a technology solution also must "buy in" to a methodology to implement it. And though the solution's features and cost receive the upfront attention in the selection process, it is the implementation that will largely impact end-user satisfaction, ROI and benefits realization.

Project portfolio management, IT governance, Sarbanes Oxley compliance, Six Sigma — these are the strategic initiatives that private and public organizations across all sectors are pursuing these days to stay competitive. In doing so, they are undertaking major implementations of various enterprise management solutions. These complex efforts require the convergence of technical, organizational and cultural change to ensure acceptance and successful deployment. Challenges and pitfall abound, which is why a best-practice implementation methodology is essential to succeed.
 
All major solutions providers have developed an implementation methodology, from assessment to design and testing, to training and adoption. Organizations that buy a solution also must buy into a methodology to implement it. And though the solution's features and costs receive most of the upfront attention in the selection process, the way the implementation is handled will greatly impact user satisfaction, ROI and benefits realization.
