Almost one of every three government agencies ranks aligning projects to strategy as its top priority, according to a survey released this week by program management service provider Robbins-Gioia. Other top priorities for government agencies include customer service, quality and effectiveness, the survey found.
Focused on 120 professionals, the survey measured the value commercial organizations and government agencies place on process improvement and quality assurance. Overall, the survey results revealed a trend toward an increased focus on process improvement.
Driven by agency desires and regulatory requirements to increase competency and optimize efficiency, 35 percent of government survey participants identified customer service, quality, and effectiveness as top priorities. In addition, 30 percent revealed that their top priority is centered on aligning projects to strategy.
Considering agencies’ focus on aligning projects to strategy, the survey revealed the biggest drivers for government agencies to implement a project management solution. Of survey respondents:
·27 percent of government agencies wanted to improve collaborative relationships with suppliers and partners
·40 percent of government agencies revealed a desire to increase competency
