The International Institute of Business Analysis unveils certification process and outlines core competencies.
The International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) staged its first Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) exam November 10, 2006 in Orlando, Fla. The CBAP is the first formal, non-vendor issued certification that assists both business analysis professionals and organizations in demonstrating the core competencies required by the profession.
“The release of the CBAP examination marks the achievement of one of the IIBA’s key goals: to provide an industry recognized certification for business analysis professionals,” said Kathleen Barrett, president of the IIBA. “Previously, the role of the business analyst was not well defined and the responsibilities held by business analysis professionals varied from organization to organization. This new certification is designed to apply consistency around the ‘BA’ function, and we are confident that it is representative of the knowledge and skills required by business analysts to properly perform their many important responsibilities.”
