Once a year, on Christmas Eve, Santa travels around the world in a reindeer-powered sleigh to deliver presents to good children and lumps of coal to bad children. This annual excursion, as his staff of elves like to call it, is the culmination of multiple projects during the year. In order to accomplish this excursion, Santa has implemented a Program Management Office to ensure coordination of all the various components. Santa found some time in his busy schedule to discuss project management and how it makes his job easier.
 

Santa, you are recognized the world over as a man who successfully implements a delivery project every Christmas Eve. How do you manage to keep up with the challenges of this endeavor?

Ho ho ho! You’re right, it is a challenge, but many years ago, especially after NASA was able to launch rockets to outer space, I decided to convert the entire North Pole operation into a project-centric environment. You mention that I successfully implement a delivery project every year...well, that is the public-facing event of many integrated projects during the year. Projects that both help us do our job better and projects that help us improve the annual excursion.
