The software-as-a-service (SaaS) model comes to collaborative project portfolio management.

This white paper focuses on the latest trends in Project Portfolio Management (PPM) technologies — a class of applications that organizes individual projects into a single portfolio consisting of: costs, timelines, accomplishments, resources, risks, reports, and other critical factors. These applications make it possible to easily manage entire portfolios, utilize resources across projects appropriately and adjust projects to produce the highest departmental or organizational returns.
 
Like many other key business applications, PPM tools have evolved to incorporate critical team collaboration capabilities, a trend we noted last year when we coined the term Collaborative Project Portfolio Management, or CPPM. These powerful applications are now undergoing another transformation from strictly premise-based licensed applications to Web-hosted, or software-as-a-service (SaaS) offerings that make is less expensive and easier to get started.
