What Makes Up A Perfect Web Team?

"What do people envision as the perfect makeup of a web team?" asked Charles Chapman, a gantthead, in the Digital Business discussion forum.

In today's environment, the survival of businesses depends upon the control that they have over the "time-to-market" period for their products and services. For many companies, these products and services are tightly entwined with technology in general and the Internet in particular. So developing these Internet systems has assumed mission-critical importance. This makes it imperative that management get a good grip on the organizational structure of the web team and also control and monitor its activities. Which leads us to the question raised by Chapman.

This question becomes even more important when one considers that due to the unprecedented rate of change in the world of Internet and intranet development, the software life-cycle methodologies and tools are hard pressed to keep up. In the article "Estimating Internet Development" in Software Development Online, author William H. Roetzheim correctly observes, "While traditional estimating, especially for client/server development, has significant applicability to Internet projects, there are some crucial differences. The largest issue is the fact that Internet software development projects now encompass activities that were previously done prior to the software project."
