A survey by Keller Graduate School of Management on project management training and education trends finds PMP certification and other advanced PM degrees are becoming increasingly important to employers.

DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management has released the results of a project management survey it administered at the PMI Global Congress 2007. The survey examined the perceptions of project management leaders and professionals on emerging needs, trends and expectations impacting educational providers. The survey also gathered information regarding the relevance of project management skills in today’s marketplace and explored corporate and organizational expectations affecting project management. Among the findings:
 
> PMP certification is becoming increasingly important or required for key positions and employees, largely due to the need to manage complex projects in a global marketplace, according to 76 percent of respondents
 
> An advanced degree or graduate certificate in project management is the most critical to an organization’s success in developing effective project managers, according to 50 percent of respondents; followed by corporate educational programs at 32 percent
 
> Flexible scheduling and program reputation are the most important requirements to students choosing a project management …
