5 Leadership Habits

Here are five principles of effective leadership, with particular emphasis on managing teams in today’s complex global business climate.

Every project effort needs more TLC: Time, Leadership and Collaboration. Of course, there’s never enough time to accomplish everything you’d like; there are never enough leaders in an organization; and getting people to collaborate is always difficult.
 
However, each individual can do things to cultivate more TLC, starting within and reaching out. Here are five effective habits of leadership, with particular emphasis on today’s complex global business climate:
 
 
1. Lead Yourself First. If you don’t follow yourself, could you expect your people to follow you? How you lead yourself can be one of the most critical factors in your success as a leader.
 
First of all, you must be focused and disciplined to continually “think ahead” of your organization. You cannot play catch-up when dealing with complex issues.
 
Secondly, self-awareness is also a precious asset, particularly on globally efforts when adapting to different cultures and ways of thinking. The more you understand yourself, the more effectively you will adapt and control your emotions when cultural differences arise during high-pressure times.
