Getting Certified After leading the development of the OPM3 standard on PMI’s behalf, I was hired by PMI and DNV to help develop OPM3 ProductSuite, which is the preferred method for implementing OPM3. ProductSuite is a robust toolset for unlocking the power of OPM3 to assess and improve your organization. It can be used only by PMI certified consultants. Certified consultants must undergo training and pass examinations.
There are prerequisites to the training. The minimum education and PM experience requirement is a PMP or PgMP credential or a high school diploma (or equivalent) and five years of PM experience, or a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and three years of PM experience. In addition, the applicant must have prior consulting experience either through an SEI-SCAMPI A Lead Appraiser Certification or a minimum of 500 hours (six months) of assessing, auditing or consulting experience over the past three years, with a minimum of 50 hours in each discipline. In addition, the applicant must have OPM3 knowledge or experience either by having performed one OPM3 self-assessment or completion of an OPM3 fundamentals course. Finally, the applicant must pass an entrance examination.
Once you have been certified, you must pay licensing and maintenance fees to PMI, and you must conduct a minimum of four OPM3 ProductSuite assessments or improvement projects within
