Three new online assessments designed to evaluate talent and identify skills gaps to boost project and organizational performance.

Project management talent and capabilities are in greater demand as both short-term necessities and long-term investments while organizations begin to revive projects that were shelved during the worst of the economic downturn. To meet this demand, the Project Management Institute (PMI), has launched three online knowledge assessments — Project Management, Program Management, and Portfolio Management — to assist in the development of core competencies.

 

Each of PMI’s new knowledge assessments consists of 100 multitple choice questions around the processes that measure users’ knowledge of the associated relevant PMI standards. In addition, PMI says the knowledge assessments can provide tangible organizational value by:

 

• Supporting the building of an organization-wide training curriculum for all project management staff based on PMI’s process groups or knowledge areas of the respective standards;

• Helping organizations develop a career path for project management professionals that strategically aligns these professionals with business goals;

• Helping project managers prepare for credential examinations, and;

• Providing assessment results at the end of …
