Best PM Practices for Clinical Data Managers
The Society for Clinical Data Management recently published a new chapter of best practices for applying project management principles to clinical data management.
The Society for Clinical Data Management has published a new chapter of best practices for applying project management principles to clinical data management. The Project Management chapter is a new addition to SCDM’s Good Clinical Data Management Practices (GCDMP), an award-winning resource for clinical data managers and others involved in medical device, biotechnology and pharmaceutical trials. In a concurrent release, an update to the chapter Vendor Selection and Management was also published.
According to SCDM, clinical data managers are increasingly expected to take on project management roles within their organizations. “Our traditional role of entering data, reviewing listings and writing or resolving queries is being redesigned as we watch,” said Susan Krikorian, CCDM, co-chair of the SCDM Products & Services Committee. “In today’s CDM environment we all take on responsibilities for managing our projects to one degree or another. Project Management is a specific set of abilities and actions that we all must master within our more traditional clinical data management roles or in the newer, evolving opportunities.”
