Agile Games 2011: Serious Play
Three-day event in Boston will explore how serious play, collaboration and experiential learning apply to the field of agile software development and project management.
Compared with traditional methods, agile software development requires its practitioners to work in more collaborative and inventive ways. Mirroring the creative approach of the agile environment is an upcoming educational conference called Agile Games 2011.
To be held April 14-16 in Boston, the event is a three-day exploration of how serious play, collaboration and experiential learning apply to the field of agile software development and project management. Held under the auspices of Agile New England, a leading community of agile enthusiasts and practitioners, the conference features the theme “Learn. Share. Play!” and is designed to deliver a hands-on experience, according to Brian Bozzuto, co-product owner of Agile Games 2011 and principal consultant at Boston-based Big Visible Solutions. He says attendees will learn new ideas and then immediately test them out alongside other professionals.
“While the concept of play may seem childish as first, there is a growing body of research showing that, even for adults, games and play produce an increased willingness to experiment and try new behaviors,” Bozzuto says.
