Hitting the Books...But The Books Hit Back!

For the person deliberating the need to take classes or seek a certification or additional degree to enhance their credentials, the thought of going back to school can be dreadful. Jobs keep getting more competitive and enhancements in technology come at us like curve balls, so it may be a consideration you have to make some time in your life.

Becoming a full-time student is often not an option due to the expense and time commitment. More popular among working professionals is after-hours, part-time, local or online coursework. Some employers sponsor the needs of employees to get more education and may allow the use of company time and resources to study and complete assignments, but most will only provide a marginal amount of support on this pursuit so long as it doesn’t impact your job.

Still, it can be a worthwhile endeavor. If you haven’t experienced it yet, take some time to explore the options and even try out a course to see if you have “the right stuff” to begin a program of study.

Here or There?
Should you want to try a more traditional face-to-face class setting, you’ll need to examine the issues associated with it and determine if you can accommodate them. Chances are you will need to be at a classroom location on a regular basis, so in addition to making sure you have the time allocated for the class in your work …
