PM Apps on the Rise
There are now more than 240 PM-related apps for the iPhone and iPad. One of the latest contains 675 flashcards to help individuals preparing for the PMP exam or seeking PDUs for re-certification.
Smart phones and other mobile devices continue to gain market share and popularity worldwide, with Apple’s devices growing the most feverishly. In the second quarter of 2011 alone, it sold more than 20 million iPhones, representing 142 percent growth over the same period last year. The iPad saw a 183 percent growth rate over the same period last year, selling more than 9 million units during the second quarter of this year.
Project management practitioners across industries are among the many that rely on these devices for a mix of personal and professional connectivity and productivity. In fact, project management apps are gaining more of a presence in the App Store. Of the 500,000-plus available apps, there are now more than 240 (and counting) PM-related apps for sale (160 for the iPhone and nearly 80 for the iPad).
