There is a huge difference between using Agile practices and being Agile. Here, a chief engineer discusses his organization’s strides in creating an Agile mindset and a customized approach to producing high-quality work in short time frames. The journey offers practical advice and techniques to those getting started or struggling with Agile transformation.

When Ray Lewallen joined Telogical as chief engineer in January 2011, he entered an organization that was already invested in Agile transformation. The group had adopted a number of Scrum practices and considered itself Agile, but also felt that something was missing and the practices were stagnant. The company felt that there was more to gain by continuing to truly adopt Agile internally as a integrated work practice and cultural value system.

Telogical is an Oklahoma-based based telecom and cable company that focuses on tracking pricing models of the various telecom and cable service providers and enabling organizations on both sides of the table to evaluate their options and determine the best pricing combination available. Over the past year they've made great strides in moving from using some Agile practices to being Agile.
