We need to redefine the concept of project management and embrace the future of work. It’s a future that is more social, personalized and empowering for workers at every level. This future will also require new solutions for promoting teamwork, encouraging participation, connecting remote teams and easing the burden on project managers.

Let’s face it: project management was traditionally a very structured process. The manager entered a project into the work queue and the appropriate staff members took turns, tackling each task while adding updates. It worked for the most part. But, are those same business processes effective today?

Many managers are struggling to accept the new work environment and appropriately respond with the best ways to heighten productivity. In the face of this ever-changing work environment, project and portfolio management solutions have evolved to appease users and help keep everyone organized. Features like remote connectivity, agile functionalities, and email updates are a few examples added to the mix.

However, while evolution is a good thing, revolution is really in order. We’re no longer just talking about project management: We’re talking about the future of work.
