With 40 years of experience leading projects in a variety of industries, Marty Wartenberg has also influenced countless other projects through his efforts in the classroom. Here, he shares some field-tested advice for practicing and aspiring project managers, including the importance of trusting your own judgement.

As a Charter Global Registered Education Provider of the Project Management Institute, UC Irvine Extension’s Project Management Certificate Program teaches students how to apply fundamental project management principles, theories and practices, including the concepts described in the most recent edition of A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide).

At the heart of the program is veteran advisory committee member and instructor Marty Wartenberg, M.B.A., P.E., who brings more than 40 years of experience managing companies and projects in the areas of aerospace, software, commercial product development, oil field instrumentation and pharmaceutical research and development. Having taught more than 60 different courses since 1991, Wartenberg has been recognized for his contributions to the school with the UCI Extension Distinguished Instructor Award, Dean’s Outstanding Service Award, and Special Recognition Award.
