A new era in rapid technology advancement is now in its early stages. Analysis shows unimaginable products and services lay just over the horizon. However, this new era of rapid technological advancement is different--and that difference is what will make this the most challenging time period in modern history.

Five technologies will reach their rapid advancement and adoption stage within the same period of time, but that is not what will make this the greatest magnitude of technology-driven change. Each of these five technologies is almost certain to be fed by and feed off of the other four technologies. Now add the fact that each of these five technologies will be supported by several additional technologies, and you begin to get a glimpse of the technology era that is just around the corner.

It is also worth noting that over the past year, every time I examine these five technologies and their impact on a business segment, the assessed impact rating was high or very high. This conclusion is supported by the numerous conversations I have had after corporate speeches covering the coming technology era as well as my own research and analysis.
