Innovation Around the Corner
Seems like only yesterday it was 2010, and now 2015 is just around the corner. Much has happened in the world of information technology in the past five years; like every period since the 1960s, the rate of innovation and advancement is still increasing at a break-neck pace.
More people creating, accessing and hungering for more data and better ways to stay connected fuels the growth of new devices, mobile computing, more ubiquitous infrastructures along with an exploding array of applications. 2015 promises, once again, to outpace the past as consumer-facing technologies and the appetite of organizations to harvest and exploit every ounce of information they collect provide the catalyst for growth. Here is a glimpse into what’s to come.
First, let’s look at 2015 from a purely numbers perspective. Just take a moment to let the numbers sink in:
- The Mobile Apps market will reach $38 billion in 2015 (according to Foresters). In 2010, the market had not reached $2 billion. That is a whopping 19 times the growth in five years.
- Tablet and other ultra-mobile device sales have more than tripled since 2012, growing from around 128 million units to a projected (according to Gartner) 385 million units in 2015.
