How can the year be almost over? I had such good intentions, but my project load has once again kept me from adding to my professional knowledge. I know it’s important to keep up rather than catch up, but things are changing so fast and there is no time. My colleagues seem to know the latest information. Do they know something I don’t about stretching time?

A. There will never be time to devote to reading, learning and growing like you once could, so take a little bite out of things on a regularly scheduled basis. Even 15 minutes will be worthwhile.

B. There is always time to learn the new and challenging things that are important to your career. You are just not being honest about your desire to keep up. Just give up and stay in your present job as long as you can.

C. Business and products change rapidly. Learn only about the things that will help you on the project you are doing today, then the next, then the one after that. This keeps you from wasting time learning things that aren’t immediately applicable.

D. If you were to give up watching or participating in sports, viewing television, hanging out with your friends and lounging around the house on the weekends, you would find plenty of time to keep up with current topics. Set your priorities wisely.
