2015 Survey Roundup: Spending, Salaries, Security and More

It’s near the end of the year, so it’s time to provide you with a recap the findings from some of the key IT surveys published over the past 12 months. Consider it a quick and easy way to stay abreast on all that is going on in the world of IT without having to wade through all the surveys one survey at a time. Plus, beyond the highlights you will find links to more detailed information on each of the topics covered.

This year I have selected four surveys to highlight in the following areas:

State of the CIO
A good place to begin this year’s survey recap is with CIO.com’s “2015 State of the CIO” survey. This year’s results indicate that there is progress afoot where IT to enterprise alignment is concerned. According to the CIOs surveyed, 68% report to have mutually shared and measurable goals with their c-level executive peers. 62% indicated that they meet with the CEO on a regular basis to discuss business strategy. This is all very encouraging.

However, according to a recent IDC survey, there is still a disconnect between IT and the rest of the organization. 54% of line-of-business leaders surveyed see IT as an obstacle and impediment to them achieving their business goals and objectives. Could it be that CIOs …
