For the last couple of months, I was in the process of identifying a major program that could be benchmarked due to its national importance and the involvement of international stakeholders; it could be foreseen as a major success on completion. This is due to the major turnaround it experienced in terms of evolution and uniqueness. These developments were the vision for many Indians, and all were eager to see it materialize. Throughout the progressive completion in terms of success and overpowering obstacles, it will leave behind many lessons to be learned. 

The government of India has taken up several initiatives for the betterment of the nation. Each of these are individual projects are under the tree of a PMO. Though their needs are different, all are aligned with that common strategy: development of nation.

If we consider three such unique projects as an example…

1. Implementation of digital India
2. Bullet train from Ahmedabad to Mumbai
3. Cleaning of Ganges

…all are set to start with some end dates fixed for each milestones. Risk management for each of these elements is going to be a lesson learned (for example, allocation of resources to deliver on time, and--the most challenging--the response from stakeholders, which will come invariably).
