There is a difference between a ScrumMaster and an agile project manager: A ScrumMaster is a team facilitator. She is on the team side, tries to remove impediments and pushes back the product owner when his demands exceed the team’s capacity.

On the other hand, an agile project manager is still a project manager who applies agile concepts and technics. The Project Management Institute defines project management as “the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet the project requirements” (PMI, 2013). Based on this definition, a project manager makes sure the scope gets done on budget and on time; the project must meet scope, resource and time requirements.
