The Project Manager: Entrepreneur by Nature?
In our job market, more and more professionals with complete and diversified profiles are sought. Oftentimes, some characteristics that meet the needs of companies can overlap among candidates and positions.
Profiles are drawn in order to analyze compatibility with the job vacancy (and as a reference, to determine if the candidate does or does not match the desired skills). In this way, a similarity between the profiles of project manager and entrepreneur have been observed, due to the "make it happen" capacity of both. But is this comparison relevant?
The Entrepreneur Profile
Being an entrepreneur means being motivated by self-realization, by the desire to take on responsibility and be independent. Entrepreneurs are always concerned about improving less-developed skills and taking care of the stronger ones.
What differentiates the entrepreneur from other people is the way he or she perceives change and deals with opportunities by taking initiative to generate a new business, taking calculated risks, creating value for society, etc.
Entrepreneurs see and evaluate opportunities, provide the resources necessary to put them into action and initiate appropriate action to ensure success. They are action-oriented leaders, successful professionals who can harmonize individual or collective efforts and create something new and creative.
