Time will fill itself whether we have something to fill it with or not. The important thing to realize is that time is not happening to you; you are determining what happens within your own time and taking control of it.

How can we ensure we make the most of every hour in the day? How can we take advantage of every opportunity? These three strategies will help you master time and maximize your day.

1. Ascertain
Our days are often filled with activities. We are very busy and accomplish tasks—yet can still be very unproductive. Why? Because these activities don't contribute to short- and long-term goals.

Therefore, it's important to first ascertain what ultimate goals you have, then break those down further into long-term, mid-term and short-term goals. Once you have this, create a plan for the specified duration. Short-term goals can be broken down into activities that should make up your daily plan. This helps you make the most of your day.

2. Act
It’s important to have an action plan for each day. However, having an action plan without taking the "action" produces nothing…you have to act! Schedule activities on your plan into your day and take the necessary steps required to get them done.
