You might not think it’s possible to overstate the disruption caused by the pandemic. Aside from the devastating cost in human lives, countless other factors like the effect on global economies, the near shutdown of many industries, the massive slowdown experienced by others, and the changes we have been forced to make to our working and personal lives have all combined to create something none of us have ever seen before.

It’s not over yet, but there are signs that things may be starting to improve as global vaccinations accelerate. There’s reason to be optimistic that things may become somewhat more normal in the coming months, even if that normality is rather different from what we expected a year ago—and even though there will be bumps in the road. That optimism extends to work and careers. While many people have lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic, things are beginning to turn around.

For project managers and people working on project teams, there is reason to believe the recovery may be faster than for some other roles. While every industry will be different, projects will be an important part of recovery as organizations seek to consolidate their core operations, deliver innovations that will speed their return to acceptable levels of performance, and make it easier for their operations to embrace different working and staffing …
