Checkmate?
Most businesses have been rethinking their business and IT strategies during the second half of this year, with implications well into 2003-4. Even before the unthinkable events of September 11, most businesses were reevaluating how to deal with a slowing economy. However, the reality is that a recovery will occur, and when that happens, businesses that are prepared will be successful, businesses that aren't, well...
The important point here is while many organizations focus on the negatives of slow economic times, there are positive aspects that can be leveraged now that the pace has slowed. Right now there is opportunity to get business and IT back into alignment, maximize its value to the organization, get ahead of the curve and prepare for the inevitable recovery.
The most difficult decision we face as program managers is deciding how to maximize effectiveness. This challenge isĀ even greater because reduced budgets mean less funding for maintenance, architecture and new systems. We have to focus on doing more with less.
