Artificial Intelligence is Overrated—and Over-Sensationalized

Artificial intelligence and its projected or perceived impact on project managers have long been discussed and debated on this platform. Through some of those debates, I’ve noticed that my position and opinions are somewhat unique among project managers due to my architectural background.

Recently though, I have found myself mumbling at the TV as media outlets have started airing hyperbolic perspectives on AI—and in truth, my wife has been giving me that look. So, I put my thoughts down in article form to suppress those mumblings and to save my marriage.

Now, before you press the “article-abort” button, believing such an opening forewarns “conspiratorial content ahead,” rest assured this is not the case. My statement is purposed-driven and is the opening salvo in an ill-fated crusade to influence perspectives in the growing chorus (and audience) surrounding the “narratival instrument” we know as AI.
