3 Key Themes From the PMI Global Summit That PMs Must Embrace
This year’s PMI Global Summit in Atlanta was a very valuable and fun experience. This sounds silly, but in the past I had not focused very much on the overall theme (I’m not sure I ever realized there was one!). This year, PMI offered all sorts of interactive and integrated ways to let us know that there was an important driver to the event—and it was all about allowing us as project managers to have a view of a big highway, one focused on leading us to success in the future.
The kickoff by PMI CEO Pierre Le Manh cemented the idea that all of PMI was unified behind these themes. They focused on how we could train ourselves to meet the coming needs of our employers. In my mind, the rest of the conference was focused on three specific different paths, but coordinated ones:
- Learn what artificial intelligence is and how it will help us in our projects
- Cultivate ways to get ourselves (and those on our teams) ready and willing to accept, embrace and support change
- Learn about the new construction management certification [Construction Professional in Built Environment Projects (PMI-CP)™], which we can help make widely known even if we don’t qualify for one personally
