As a project management lover, I’m alway wondering whether I need to focus on pure PM regardless of a specific industry, or the PM is considered additional skill to my original profession which is in construction industry.
What are the skills do I need to enhance in addition to my PMP if the PM is a pure industry and what are the skills do I need to enhance if focusing on construction is a must.
I hear a lot about agile (mainly concerning the IT, health care, insurance, etc), but I’m not sure how it’s interfering with the construction industry.
Sorry for the long paragraph but this issue is always buzzing in me.

PMI addressed this when they developed the Talent Triangle a few years back acknowledging that it takes more than PM hard & soft skills to be a successful project manager.

Domain knowledge is important as is strategic thinking and understanding of what makes your business "tick".

Embracing agility (as opposed to a specific agile methodology) will help in any role - project or operations in any industry.

Every PM needs the basic project management skills, tools and techniques. Following that, domain experience to be applicable to the job. It will always be a combination of the two.
