I was told I was interviewing for a Sr. P. Coordinator job and the position said Proj. Administrator. The job description, however, sounds like a PC role. I can see value in interviewing for the role. I get more time with the budget and with the delivery. I also get more time in interviewing other candidates who would want to work with them. Would the title be a hindrance in my growth? I am a PC now

Thank you, everyone, for the advice. The position does not look like a paper pusher type of role. It looks pretty hands on. I have a call at 12 today. I will report back.
Good Luck with your interview.

In the long run, for your personal and professional growth, experience that adds to your “toolbox” of competencies is more important than a past title. Best of luck with your interview.

I appreciate this advice Dinah. My official title does not define my PM involvement and I feel somewhat bothered about this. I am thinking about revealing my desire for a more active role in PM to my manager and senior manager (I am bit more involved since acquiring my CAPM but only my manager knows about this). Any suggestions on how I can approach this? Our org structure has defined roles such as turnaround manager (program), project managers and project leaders (engineers only), however nothing like project coordinator etc.
If your manager is aware of the work you are doing (using CAPM skills), maybe you can talk to him about what your next step should be in career development. Instead of asking for more, ask him what more he would like you to do given what he knows about you.

Thanks for the advice. Then I think I am on the write track cause I've already done that, however my manager is involving me much more.
