Six sigma is a project "NOT LEAN" implemented in manufacturing to reduce a defect, once you achieve the 3.4 defects PPM the project is closed and the rest will be operation process to achieve repetitive results.

Can we apply six sigma on project management processes, if YES, what could be achieved?

Riyadh, I concur with the other posters about 3-4 Sigma. I was taught that 95% and 98% were the standard points of reference for most project management tasks.

I do want to note that applying Six Sigma to individual processes would *not* necessarily result in a Six Sigma project. Each sub-process and input introduces potential defects into the finished product.

So, I think it's important to note whether you want to apply Six Sigma to the individual PMBOK processes, or to the overall project. The former seems substantially easier to do.
