Transition Plan

I have been tasked to create a plan for transitioning a project from the sales group to our delivery organization. In other words, I need a plan for moving the project from pre-sales and contract award to the group responsible for executing/delivering the work. Our organization is an IT VAR that also provides PM services for IT projects. Does anyone have any suggestions or samples of such a transition plan?

Carrie, It's hard to tell what kind of project you're running - hardware?, software?, build-out? Based on your post, the results from the Mrktg project to be the input to your move plan. Do you need a sales floor, desks, lights, space, computers, raised floor, telecomm, etc. Each component will have specific activities for each deliverable area. If you're using MS Project - there are templates out on the MS website. Perhaps one of those can act as a catalyst to help. AT EOD - you'll have to decide what is going to be delivered. Then how to deliver 1 unit of that work.... multiply by the number of times to do it... and that should be close to what you need to do. Define the what so you can define the how...
