I am in the process of trying to select a PM software system, but would like to assess user requirements prior to viewing any PM software. Is anyone aware of a generic list of PM software functions that can be used as a basis to conduct a User Requirements to help select an appropriate PM software system, or any other information to assist conduct the User Requirements? Hi Yvonne,
First let me make full disclosure that I work for a PM software vendor in the US called VCSonline. That said, I can tell you that I've seen many lists of user requirements that go from reasonable to ridiculous in scope. The key is not what list you might find out there, but what functions and features you need to be successful. The key is to look at your own organization and assess your readiness for PM features and determine what functionality will give you a fast ROI and be appropriate for the level of project management maturity across the organization. Companies like ours help their clients do these internal assessments as we realize that your requirements are what matter. That said, here is a link to a page on our website of some common PPM functions and features.
Noting that you are in Perth, Australia, I would be happy to put you in contact with one of our clients there who have done internal functional requirement analyses and would be willing to share their own conclusions about what matters when evaluating these tools. Whatever you decide to do, we wish you success. Saving Changes...
