As far as the preparation itself, plan it out like a project; this includes the application, scheduling the exam, study prep, mock testing, and mental preparedness.
Hi You can get 35 contact hours easily by spending from couple of dollars to hundreds of dollars. BUT the key point is having 35 hours of study which will really help you in passing the exam without you have to take several courses one after another to actually understand the concepts for passing the exam. My recommendation is going to the PMI´s certification web site and take a closer look to all the related documentation you can find there. Mainly try to understand that and just in case of a doubt send an email to PMI´s customer care. You can also use udemy courses, some good courses are there and very affordable.
