I'm I a good Project Manager because I constantly do overtime and never have personal time?

People, in general, think that the busiest agenda means the most effective people. If my agenda is full, I'm doing a good Job.

This can be true, but it might be totally opposite.

I like the book "The Lazy Project Manager" by Peter Taylor.

At first glance, you might think "lazy" is bad. But from his perspective, (_smart_) lazy people find the most effective ways to get the work done...

From the description on Amazon:
"builds on the Pareto principle that states that for many phenomena, 80 per cent of consequences stem from 20 per cent of the causes. To put it simply, only 20 per cent of the things people do during their working days really matter."

To add to John's feedback, a manager who doesn't work a sustainable pace sends the message to his/her team members that they shouldn't either...

I had a manager who used to tell me if you stay after 0500 pm then you have not done your work during the day.

Working longer doesn't mean a good project manager; quite the opposite actually.

A good leader is in control of his or her life, time and emotions.
'I am busy' is another way of saying 'I am not in control'.

A packed agenda could just mean a person is very inefficient and disorganized, or working in organizational culture with those characteristics. What matters is how much useful work a person accomplishes within a given time period.

Normally I won't go for a packed agenda, because I will be less productive but there were times I had to work overtime, otherwise I will lose the momentum and have to start again. So, it depends on whether I'm enjoying what I'm doing.

There are times you will be required to put in additional hours on a project but if this is the rule rather than the exception then there is a problem.
