Are you taking full advantage of your Chapter membership ?

Taking full advantage of membership in PMI Chapter is important to justify paying the fees.

I have seen many benefits listed in the website but I could not avail any in the last two years.

I couldn't be able to join a single event of the chapter, the main two reasons; the distance is five hours drive and the timing does not match when I'm around.

Should I continue paying ?

What's your experience ?

Dinah, exactly that's my point I like the analysis of your numbers 150 / 10 some fellow members might object this is not an investment to run ROI, I think there should be more benefits for those who can not attend the event due to living faraway from the chapters. I am glad that you attended one or two
Actually, I just looked. My chapter membership dues are only $40. So if I start making an effort to take advantage of my chapter more, the ROI may work out. Let me try this for awhile and then reevaluate.

Dinah, I know the fees is 40 I assumed that you've calculated the cost of the two events you attended also to come up with 150

Any council or institute, when you attend a conference for two or three hours should be free!!!

For this chapter, no benefit no certificate and also coffee break i was very poor!!!
Tamer is this chapter nearest to you
You can try different chapter though

The first chapter workshop I attended was interesting to me because there were guest speakers and we were introduced to PMBOK 6 and the PMI talent triangle. We are now forming regional structures to avoid travelling for hours to attend in other provinces.
Wakayi interesting how you're going to do that

I think I confused the PMI membership because I have paid them together.

I also have hardly got any benefit out of subscribing to PMI North India chapter. My chapter website does not get updated regularly and the events are also very few. But since the cost is not that much, I am continuing.
But I will seriously think about renewing the membership this year...

Brajesh, the cost is not the question if it is high or low the question are we getting value out of it or just paying for nothing, I could not join any activity due to far distance and couldn't match the timing of the events.

My PMI-ACP status is good till 2024, so I will let the membership expire this February.

I couldn't justify paying US$129/year.

There is a interesting article by Lee R. Lambert on LinkedIn regarding The Brightlineâ„¢ Initiative, hopefully I'll see value in PMI membership to come back.

Boon, thanks for your feedback, there is difference between the status and certification fees and due date and the yearly fee for the chapter as you know, so if you can join events and take networking activities and other benefits then it worth it otherwise it has no value even the chapter fees is low comparatively to the membership fees.

I don't think I'm taking full advantage of the chapter membership, since I was not able to attend any single event so far.
Anish, you are right I also couldn't attend any single event
