The issue is often this – “If I say No, then my experience tells me that I will have committed a CLM (i.e. Career Limiting Move)”

I have definitely been over-committed many times, however once you say “I Accept” (even though you believe saying No would be a CLM) you are still held to the same level of accountability before your steering committees. Good Question.

George, good reply! Very well explained.

Didn't really put a lot of thought on the other side of the coin, but it makes perfect sense.

lol :)

Interesting, sounds like a joke, but it's true because there are those cases where you don't have a choice right?

I've often jumped in...both feet and eyes wide open. I often find that I can do more than I think....but sometimes the results are not as stunning as I would have hoped for

Meade - does this comes with a high level of personal time consumption?

George - in some positions, I've worked close to 70-80 hour weeks...I don't advocate overtime over long periods or push myself or others to be heroes/martyrs - but sometimes you just need to push it and get the job done.

George -

I think all of us have done it at one time or another - either we have done so knowing that we were over-commtting, or we were underestimating the effort commitment we were making.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me...

I have experienced this many times, and most of the time there was no other choice.
