Both are really good, primavera might be more complex but end of the day it is all about what you need it for. Do you have the complexity and budget to have dedicated team for primavera ..

thank you so much Mr, Drake for valuable response..
My rule of thump is, more than 500 activities then absolutely Primavera. It is also form an layout point of view (grouping and sorting) more flexible. Just as Kevin said, Project is quick and easy and serves for smaller scopes while Primavera is very powerful but need more expertise, training and maintenance.
Try both in different settings and you'll see what we are talking about.
Best regards and good time scheduling!

This is a complicated topic. For some project managers, Primavera P6 is better than Microsoft Project. Likewise some of them think vice versa. When someone asks this question I always say that you must review both of the softwares by downloading trial versions.

Both tools require different levels of effort and involvement. Primavera is a bit heavy and, thus, works best on projects with a full project office. Saving Changes...
Old saying if you can't get it right by pen & paper you won't get it right by software.
For example, if you don't know how to calculate manually the NPV the excel sheet won't help you there
Now both software can make you reach, like both cars one is Hyundai can take you from point A to B so do Maserati Saving Changes...
What is the expertise of the people you can have to operate? How fast do you needed to be up and running?
Primavera is proven on large projects, but if you can’t get people that know P6, you’re better with MS Project. Saving Changes...
