I highly recommend you take a look at Norm Kerth's new book called, "Project Retrospectives: A Handbook for Team Reviews," Dorset House Publishing, NY, NY, c. 2000. ISBN:0-932633-44-7. [See www.dorsethouse.com for more info.] It supposed to be released soon if not already. I have used some of Norm's material as education and in my own work. The book presents one of the most comprehensive works on retrospectives and lessons learned. He has a chapter on Anatomy of a Retrospective and Preparing for a Retrospective. Also, the Amplifying Your Effectiveness (AYE) conference (www.ayeconference.com) in November 2000 will be having an experiential learning session on retrospectives. I highly recommend that you attend this conference if you are interested in retrospectives. Also, you will get a tremendous benefit out of the other technical sessions as well. - John Suzuki

Many thanks. I've also found a Department of Defense web site that discusses Lessons Learned (http://call.army.mil/call/homepage/lesslist.htm) Some may find it useful.

Jeffrey,
Here are two documents from pmblvd.com. Not much, but may be of value. You may also want to checkout the pmblvd.com site for additional info.

Gathering Lessons Learned from a project is one thing. What is harder, and far more important, is storing and diseminating the lessons to new projects. How do we get the lessons learned to future project managers and their teams, so they don't repeat the mistakes of the past.
I know of no one who currently does this well. If you do, I'd sure like to hear about it.
