I came across education provider from Udemy who claim that you can get PDU for the course but when I put the name on PMI claim page no registered education provider came up, I wonder such claim from non REP could increase the chances of an audit
Is it worth it to submit the claim or just play it save and submit only from REP where they have a code and once you put info every things pop up with specific distribution of the PDU on the triangle Saving Changes...
PDUs don't HAVE to come from REP's, it's just that the validation process might be simpler when you submit a PDU claim when it relates to an REP offering.
I am not saying that PMI might not change this in the future, but they have never used the REP as an absolute gate on PDU submissions.
Kiron
Kiron, I appreciate your comment and it might goes well but as you have mentioned that the validation process surely would not be simpler as the REP course, so there is a small percentage of risk there and I have chosen to use "Avoid" Saving Changes...

Rami, actually, I did contact Udemy and the course owner said that it is costly for them to pay fees to get registered as education provider with PMI and said you can claim the PDU.
However, it is only 9.5 PDU so I wouldn't risk it, I have other courses and they are REP and they have proper code. I have bought other courses for general knowledge but you know they are not claiming PDU for it so it is more transparent and it is your choice to buy or not.
I am not sure what the purpose of the PDU’s are (Certification Renewal or New Certification Application?). In both cases, I see no problem like I mentioned earlier but it seems like it is a personal preference for you so if you have another course coming up soon, then that should be finecbut in general and for future to answer your concern, there is no oroblem even if auditied like Kiron said, REP is not the absolute measure.
Something you have to keeo in mind, audits are generated randomly so even if you fill in hours from an REP, you might still be audited so your odds of being audited with or without the REP, are exactly the same.

PDUs are only for meeting re-certification needs. PMI uses the somewhat odd term "contact hours" to refer to education gained as a prerequisite to applying for a certification. Neither of these have to be procured through REPs but doing so does reduce risk to the submission process and (in the case of PDUs) removes some of the guesswork around where to claim the PDUs as the talent triangle alignment would have already been done by the REP as part of their registration of the course offering.

Rami, Thanks for your continuous support, I really aligned with Kiron on that the PDU is for recertification and contact hours for applying to be certified
However Kiron made a good point here that with REP when you put the code it goes down automatically which 0.5 and 1.5 on the talent triangle so this way you are sure it is done right no guess, in case we mistakenly put the credit in wrong place then that increases the chances for questioning.

You have a point Kiron with regards to the triangle but as for the Contact Hours, they are expressed in PDU’s with 1 Hour = 1 PDU so for me, PDU’s are for both education and re-certification.
Again, whether it was an REP or not, this won’t reduce your chances of being audited. Being selected for an Audit is an automated thing.

Yes, it might make things easier with regards to the triangle but you can always allocate those yourself. 9.5bHrs is no big deal to allocate in the triangle yourself but as I said, it depends how much you are comfortable with that.

Rami, thank you my friend and good luck to you too, I feel more comfortable this way I agre with your points that it doesn't have to be REP.
