Anyone recommend an online prep course for the PMP exam? Something that I can watch on my own time and not have to sync in with a classroom and something that fulfills my education requirements for the certification. I live in Kansas City Kansas area. Thanks Saving Changes...

Check on Udemy, I am pretty sure you will find many useful course just make sure they are R.E.P.'s. It is not a much but better to avoid any delays in your application if you need those PDU's.

Udemy is informative and reasonable. I recently submitted the payment for the CAPM exam. If I'm successful I will move forward with completing the application for the PMP exam.
That depends if you want the course for the required education hours to sit the exam, or to learn it well. If you just need the education hours to qualify for the PMP Exam, just do Udemy. If you want the best chance to learn and pass the exam, you will need a more robust online training option like RMC Learning, SimpliLearn, Prepcast etc.

I'm halfway through Joseph Phillips' $15 online PMP prep course at Udemy, but decided to abandon it and study with PM Prepcast instead. $269 for the Elite package (June discount), 1200 questions exam simulator included.
I passed the PMI-ACP exam using Joseph Phillips' Udemy course as well (also $15), so it's an affordable option to obtain the required contact hours.

The good tips for PMP are:
1) Read PMP exam outline & exam handbook from PMI website very well to understand the structural of exam;
2) Read last version of PMBOK as per 2018 exam changes instructions from PMI website, and focus on stakeholder, communication and risk;
3) Read rita book for understanding' and
4) practice a lot of questions form PMSTUDY, PMPRECAST & Udemy.
So after taking an online course (alternatively a 5-days live class) to obtain the 35 contact hours, we need to study the PMBOK Guide.
Why is it necessary to read ANOTHER study guide e.g. Andy Crowe, Rita Mulcahy, Head First, Kim Heldman, etc?
If I choose the read one of these popular study guides, can I skip studying the PMBOK Guide?

You can't skip the PMBOK guide, because there are a lot of references in those books you mentioned to sections within the PMBOK. Also, some PMP exam questions that I recall were worded identically to sections in the PMBOK, so obviously many answers are taken directly from the PMBOK.
