I am looking for metrics to gather related to Key Risk Indicators and Key Performance Indicators for a Project Program.

Does anyone have any recommendations, or tools be used to capture the metrics and creating reports? We have a small program here but would like to see how the community is doing this level of reporting in their PMOs?

A couple that I thought of to start would be:
# of projects closed late - past their scheduled end date
# of active projects running late

Michele, there are so many software in the market to do that it depends how much money you get approved to spend / for example to name few
KPI dashboard
Maximo
SAP
and drawings or excel sheet

Michele -

Programs focus on outcomes much more than projects so I'd look for KPIs related to realized vs. expected business benefits. You'd also want to look at cumulative cost variance and other relevant earned value metrics.

It has to do with the nature of projects, organization, etc. However, you may find the following useful:
Average of # days behind the schedule
Average of over cost
Accuracy of estimates (duration, cost, budget, etc.)
average/trend rate of CPI, SPI, etc.
# of change requests
# of approved changes
